Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (Monday 3 Jun 2024 - Friday 4 Oct 2024) - Key stage 1
- Art & Design, Citizenship, History
- Chronology, Famous people, Kings and Queens, Learning from photographs, Monarchy, My First Visit, Portraits
How do we know which photos are old and which are more recent? How are everyone's families different? This cross curricular workshop for KS1 pupils will explore a number of themes combining history and PSHE.
In this session pupils will explore how families are different from each other, and will gain an understanding of the names of different family members. The images on display will also provide an opportunity for pupils to examine the clues needed in historical interpretation of sources to understand whether photographs of people are from the past or the present.
Towards the end of the workshop children will work together to create their own royal family 'photograph', thinking about who is standing where and why.
For centuries, portraiture has played a vital role in shaping the public’s perception of the Royal Family. Explore Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography and reveal the stories behind some of the most celebrated photographs ever taken of the Royal Family. Discover how visual and tactile qualities of processes used by artists convey mood, ideas and feelings through the images and paintings on display.
