Almost 900 years ago a community of canons lived in Holyrood Abbey.

During this outdoor learning session children will hear how the canons had many jobs! The canons were like teachers; showing others how to read and write, they were like farmers; growing flowers, herbs and vegetables, and they were like doctors; making medicines to heal others. Children will then make their way to the Physic Garden where they will have a go at some of these important jobs. They will use quills and traditional charcoal ink to make marks as well as explore the garden with their senses and gather flowers, leaves and twigs to make their own special potion!

Visit includes access to: Holyrood Abbey*, the Physic Garden and Abbey Strand Learning Centre.

Facilitated session lasts: 1 hour
